What is medical misgoyny?
Medical misogyny is the systemic prejudice women face in the healthcare system. This prejudice can be the lack of knowledge on women’s bodies compared to men, or the tendency to reduce women’s symptoms to dramatic emotions. As a result, women are often taught to trust their doctor’s expertise, even at the expense of discrediting their own experience.
But, this isn’t just frustrating. It can rapidly become harmful if we aren’t aware of it.
Medical misogyny manifests in many different forms.
